Job Title: SEMH Teaching Assistant

Leader Education is seeking a dedicated and compassionate SEMH Teaching Assistant to join our team at an alternative provision in Gateshead.

This all-through school caters to learners who require additional support due to Social, Emotional, Mental Health (SEMH) and behavioural needs.

The ideal candidate will have experience working with vulnerable individuals and be able to provide a safe and supportive environment for our pupils.

The successful candidate will:

  • Have a fully enhanced DBS on the update service or a willingness to obtain one.
  • Be able to work effectively with pupils who have SEMH and behavioural needs.
  • Communicate effectively with pupils on a 1:1 basis and in a group setting.
  • Work collaboratively with parents, carers, and other members of multidisciplinary teams to provide the best support.
  • Be flexible and resilient in a fast-paced environment.
  • Possess excellent communication skills that can be tailored to suit students of different abilities.
  • Possess good classroom management skills.
