Job Title: Data Protection Specialist

We are seeking a highly skilled Data Protection Specialist to join our team at The Emerald Group Ltd, Search and Selection. As a Data Protection Specialist, you will play a critical role in ensuring our company's compliance with UK data protection legislation.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Manage the end-to-end process of fulfilling data subject requests under the UK General Data Protection Regulation (UK GDPR), including subject access requests and erasure requests.
  • Develop and maintain internal documentation and communications regarding the data subject request process to ensure efficient and cost-effective handling of requests.
  • Collaborate with the Data Security Compliance Team to implement tools and processes that support the data subject request process, such as the OneTrust Privacy Rights Automation module.
  • Assist in the development and implementation of data protection and data security training programs to ensure our employees are aware of their data protection responsibilities.
  • Contribute to the development and execution of data protection and data security policies, procedures, and guidelines to ensure compliance with UK data protection legislation.
  • Support the Data Protection Officer (DPO) in ensuring the importance of data security compliance is communicated across the company.
  • Provide guidance and advice on UK data protection law to internal and external stakeholders.
Requirements:
  • Strong knowledge and experience of current and upcoming UK data protection law, including the UK GDPR, Data Protection Act 2018, and Privacy and Electronic Communication Regulations (PECR).
  • Recognized data protection qualifications, such as CIPP/E or CIPM.
  • Extensive experience of fulfilling data subject requests made under the UK GDPR.
  • Experience of working in a team where providing guidance and advice about UK data protection law to internal and external stakeholders is a primary focus.
  • First-rate planning and organization skills with the ability to manage conflicting priorities while meeting deadlines.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Highly motivated and focused with a desire to help, use initiative, and add value.
  • Confident general IT skills, including proficiency in Google Workspace, Microsoft Office, and Adobe Acrobat Pro.
