Job Description

Role Summary:

We are seeking a highly skilled Forensic Accountant to join our team at H M Revenue & Customs. As a Forensic Accountant, you will play a critical role in providing expert advice and analysis to support investigations and anti-money laundering interventions.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Provide objective and independent accounting advice to support criminal and civil investigations and anti-money laundering interventions.
  • Act as an expert witness in court proceedings, providing clear and concise analysis of financial and accounting transactions.
  • Support activities targeting alcohol, supply chain, and duty evasion fraud, utilizing your commercial experience and expertise.
  • Communicate and advise internal and external stakeholders, including investigation teams, lawyers, and the courts.
  • Develop and provide quality bespoke accountancy training to key partners, sharing knowledge and best practice.
  • Coach and mentor colleagues, promoting a culture of excellence and continuous learning.

Requirements:

  • Full and complete qualification from one of the following professional accounting bodies: ICAEW, ICAS, CAI, ACCA, CIMA, or CIPFA.
  • Continuing membership of the relevant professional accounting body.
  • Strong financial accounting experience, gained in practice, industry, public sector, or private sector.
  • Experience in analyzing and interpreting financial records, preparing or reviewing financial statements, and delivering high-quality written and verbal accountancy outputs.

Desirable Criteria:

  • Some experience of Forensic Accounting, Money Laundering issues, and Illicit Finance issues would be beneficial.
