Leonardo is seeking talented High Speed Digital Electronics Engineers to contribute to cutting-edge projects in Edinburgh.

As a key member of our engineering team, you will play a vital role in the development and implementation of innovative digital electronics solutions.

Your Responsibilities:
  • Design Expertise: Develop high-speed digital Printed Circuit Boards (PCBs) leveraging the latest FPGA, microprocessor, and high-speed interconnect technologies.
  • Full Lifecycle Involvement: Participate in every stage of the hardware lifecycle, from requirements analysis and design to unit testing, integration with target systems, acceptance testing, and customer delivery.
  • Documentation & Management: Meticulously document all work products, maintain them under configuration management, and provide comprehensive plans and progress reports.
  • Collaborative Problem Solving: Work effectively within a multi-disciplinary team of engineers to resolve complex integration challenges on sophisticated systems.
  • System Understanding: Analyze system-level requirements documents and translate them into practical hardware designs.
  • Technical Proficiency: Demonstrate expertise in schematic capture, high-speed serial communication link design, and associated protocols and architectures.
  • Hardware Integration: Possess hands-on experience integrating hardware, firmware, and software designs onto microprocessor-based platforms.
  • Methodical Approach: Adhere to a structured hardware design process, ensuring meticulous attention to detail throughout the lifecycle.
  • Testing & Verification: Conduct thorough debugging, testing, and verification of new designs, supporting their commissioning and integration into target systems.
  • Supplier Liaison: Effectively communicate with suppliers of key components and assemblies.
  • Communication & Teamwork: Communicate clearly and concisely across different disciplines both verbally and in writing. Collaborate effectively within teams to resolve technical issues.
  • Time Management: Demonstrate strong time management skills, scheduling work efficiently and adhering to project timelines and budgets.
