Lead Podiatrist Specialist
Position Overview
Are you ready to elevate your career in podiatry and enhance your expertise in managing diabetic foot conditions while engaging in a multidisciplinary team approach?
We welcome applications from candidates at various experience levels, including those with limited exposure to the private healthcare environment.
Located in North East Essex, you will operate across community clinics, receiving guidance from experienced podiatrists and diabetes specialists. You will have access to advanced diagnostic tools such as x-rays, ultrasound, ABPI, toe pressure assessments, blood tests, community casting, and PGDs.
In this role, you will participate in the Diabetic Foot MDT clinic, which convenes bi-weekly at a local hospital. This collaborative clinic includes Diabetes consultants, Podiatrists, Diabetes Specialist Nurses, Vascular and Orthopaedic Consultants, Vascular Nurses, Orthotists, Plaster Room staff, Plastic Surgeons, OPAT, and nursing support.
Our service caters to a diverse clientele, addressing a wide range of conditions, including diabetic foot issues, vascular complications, nail surgeries, and biomechanics.
We provide training for those needing IRMER, ABPI, casting, and PGDs, and we support individuals in completing the diabetic foot course and other relevant professional development programs.
East Suffolk and North Essex NHS Foundation Trust offers a flexible working policy and is open to considering part-time or job-sharing arrangements.
Key Responsibilities
Our service accepts referrals for individuals of all ages and has recently introduced self-referral options for adults seeking self-management guidance. We strongly advocate for patient education and self-management where appropriate. Our offerings include general NHS podiatry services, encompassing biomechanics and diabetic podiatry, and we actively participate in the MDT diabetic foot clinic.
The diverse nature of our service presents excellent opportunities for skill development, supported by our Band 6 and 7 podiatrists through rotations in established biomechanics, diabetes, and paediatric clinics. We maintain a close partnership with the orthotics service.
