Culinary Specialist Job Overview
As a Culinary Specialist, you will engage in the art of crafting menus that align with established standards while ensuring compliance with hygiene, health, and safety protocols. Your role will cater to the varied needs of the Royal Air Force community. Key responsibilities include:
- Creating meals in diverse settings such as Military Messes, Field Kitchens, and In-Flight Catering
- Managing the ordering, storage, and inventory of food supplies
- Contributing to menu development for daily meals and special VIP events
- Preparing in-flight meals for crew members and passengers
Educational Qualifications:
- Unqualified Culinary Specialist: No formal qualifications necessary
- Qualified Culinary Specialist: A minimum of 12 months of relevant experience in a culinary role, along with one of the following qualifications: NVQ Level 2 or 3 in Food Preparation and Cooking, Apprenticeship in Commis Chef or Production Chef Standards, or any other recognized certification
Eligibility Criteria:
- Age: Must attest before the 48th birthday
- Citizenship: Must be a citizen of the United Kingdom or Republic of Ireland, a dual UK/other nationality holder, or a Commonwealth citizen since birth with 'right to work' immigration status
- Commitment: Must agree to a minimum of 3 years following specialized training
- Assessment: Must pass the Defence Aptitude Assessment
- Fitness: Must successfully complete a fitness evaluation
