Job Description

Our client, a leading provider of automation solutions, is seeking an experienced PLC Software Engineer to join their highly successful software team.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Manage individual projects at an engineering and client level, ensuring timely completion and adherence to industry standards.
  • Develop technical documents, including diagrams and language, to meet client requirements.
  • Design and implement bespoke software routines and functions to ensure safe and controlled operation of machines and systems.
  • Implement safety software in accordance with BS-EN13849.
  • Test and quality check systems and software before shipping and commissioning.
  • Commission bespoke systems at Head Office and customer sites within the UK, with occasional overseas visits.
  • Undertake additional training as required and work autonomously or as part of a team.

Requirements:

  • Comprehensive skills and experience in Siemens TIA portal platform and/or Allen Bradley Studio 5000.
  • Strong understanding of PLC programming using ladder code, including functions blocks, function calls, and data blocks.
  • Proven skills in HMI screen development and on-site commissioning of industrial automation.
  • Experience in conveyor control, machine interfaces, sequential logic, safety controllers, and drive configuration.
  • Strong understanding of profinet, ethernet, and profibus industrial communications systems.
  • Full UK driving license and excellent communication and customer-facing skills.
  • Qualification to HND or above in a relevant electrical, electromechanical, or controls field.
  • At least 3 years of experience in the above activities.
