An exceptional opportunity has arisen to become a part of our dedicated Head and Neck Cancer Clinical Nurse Specialist team. This role involves a balanced commitment, with half of the time allocated to one healthcare facility and the other half to another, ensuring comprehensive patient care.
The successful candidate will deliver specialized support and guidance to individuals diagnosed with Head and Neck Cancer, primarily focusing on ENT patients. Collaborating closely with fellow Macmillan Clinical Nurse Specialists, the role aims to provide an all-encompassing nursing service tailored to the unique needs of each patient. The post holder will offer clinical expertise and compassionate support to patients and their families throughout their journey, from initial diagnosis through treatment, survivorship, and palliative care.
Main Responsibilities
The post holder will be integral to the Macmillan Head and Neck Cancer CNS team, delivering a specialized nursing service that supports patients and their families throughout the cancer care continuum. Responsibilities include:
- Providing comprehensive support and information from diagnosis through treatment and ongoing care.
- Collaborating with multidisciplinary teams and participating in MDT meetings.
- Enhancing knowledge and skills to become a proficient practitioner in head and neck cancer and symptom management.
- Assessing and prioritizing patient needs, making referrals to specialists as necessary.
- Delivering holistic care that addresses physical, psychological, social, and financial needs.
- Recognizing when to seek additional support in challenging situations beyond personal expertise.
- Ensuring high-quality, patient-centered care that respects individual needs and promotes equality and diversity.
- Facilitating ongoing training for healthcare professionals regarding all aspects of head and neck cancer.
