Position Overview

We are seeking a compassionate and dedicated Registered Nurse specializing in Child Health (RSCN/RN Child) who possesses strong organizational abilities and a quick learning aptitude to deliver care and assistance within our department.

This role is dynamic and diverse, catering to a patient volume exceeding 35,000 annually. The ideal candidate will demonstrate flexibility in their work approach and maintain a calm, professional demeanor. The ability to perform accurately while managing multiple tasks is crucial. The successful applicant will exhibit enthusiasm and possess outstanding communication and customer service skills. Responsibilities will include direct clinical care, patient chaperoning, recording measurements, updating electronic records as necessary, and providing support to the nursing leadership. Additional tasks will involve greeting patients and appropriately directing public and staff inquiries. You will play a vital role in fostering a positive and efficient environment for service users and their families.

Main Responsibilities

As a member of the Children's Outpatients Nursing team, the successful candidate will concentrate on delivering direct care and support to children and their families in an outpatient setting. This position will be situated within the Pediatric Outpatients Department, engaging with children and young individuals who have varying health and social care requirements from a diverse community. The post holder will advocate for children and their families, promoting child-centered, family-oriented care while ensuring effective collaboration with the multidisciplinary team and associated agencies. The successful candidate will also actively participate in the education, mentoring, and assessment of students, trainees, and professional staff.

Person Specification

Experience

Essential

  • Experience in providing nursing support to children and young individuals with complex health care needs and conditions, along with their families.
  • Experience working in a multicultural environment.
  • Experience in mentoring Student Nurses/Trainee Nursing Associates or a commitment to obtaining the qualification within 18 months of commencing the position.

Skills

Essential

  • Ability to work autonomously, prioritize and organize workload, and make informed decisions under pressure.
  • Self-motivated with exceptional interpersonal and communication skills.
  • Capability to collaborate effectively within a multidisciplinary team.
  • Excellent time management skills and a flexible work approach.

  • Registered Nurse (Child) or RSCN.
  • ENB997/8 or SLIP or an equivalent accredited teaching and assessing qualification, or actively pursuing this qualification.
