About the Opportunity
We are seeking a compassionate and dedicated Caregiver to join our team at KYN. As a Caregiver, you will play a vital role in delivering exceptional care to our residents, ensuring their dignity, respect, and wellbeing are preserved at all times.
Key Responsibilities
- Support the Nurse and Household Care Lead in delivering person-centred care to residents, preserving their dignity, respect, and wellbeing.
- Understand personal care planning and take responsibility for all aspects of care, including infection control and moving and handling training.
- Ensure the highest standard of individualised person-centred care and attention is given to residents in the home.
- Ensure residents are treated with dignity, privacy, and respect at all times.
- Promote residents' independence and respect their choices and preferences as reflected in their care plan and through daily conversations.
- Assist residents with their personal care, such as washing, dressing, and assistance to use the toilet, according to their individual abilities and care needs.
- Undertake minor medical duties, including oral care, skin care, catheter care, and end-of-life care.
- Ensure, along with your team, that residents' medical, physical, social, and emotional needs are met.
- Use medical equipment, including hoists, commodes, profiling beds, and slide sheets.
- Create a nurturing environment where residents and their family members feel loved, happy, safe, and secure.
- Ensure residents participate in any decisions about their care to promote an exceptional quality of life in a nurturing and beautiful environment.
- Understand personal care planning, including signs and symptoms of infections, how to assist with incontinence, awareness, and reporting of swallowing difficulties.
- Support residents at mealtimes, particularly those who require assistance.
- Encourage residents to participate in recreational activities and help provide physical and mental stimulation.
- Help, support, and develop new and less experienced Caregivers.
- Attend clinical supervision sessions as arranged by the relevant Registered Nurse.
- Maintain the confidentiality of information regarding residents, visitors, and team members.
- Attend and actively participate in team meetings.
- Issue a daily report to the person in charge at the end of each shift concerning the care delivered to your designated residents, noting any changes.
- Promptly communicate any concerns that have been raised while working with residents to the appropriate member of the senior team.
- Provide a 'warm welcome' to all new residents, new team members, and all visitors and familiarise them with the home.
- Take responsibility for all aspects of care, including infection control, moving and handling training.
- Be responsible for the Health and Safety of self, other team members, residents, and visitors under the Health and Safety regulations.
- Promptly report any hazards or potential hazards to the person in charge or take other appropriate actions within the remit of your training and knowledge.
- Attend all statutory training sessions and any other relevant training sessions.
- Adhere to all KYN's policies and procedures.
About You
- You will have experience of working in a Health and Social Care setting.
- You will ideally have NVQ/QCF Diploma Level 2/3 in Health and Social Care.
- You will be patient with the ability to deal with difficult situations with tact and diplomacy.
- You will be an effective team player who builds professional and trusting relationships with every member of the team, ensuring they feel valued.
- You will have excellent attention to detail and an ability to anticipate problems before they arise.
- You will have the ability to resolve complaints and investigate and manage incidents effectively and efficiently.
- You will be a compassionate, empathetic, kind, and caring individual.
- You will have the flexibility to meet work requirements.
