We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced data analyst to join our team at The ONE Campaign. As a Senior Data Analyst, you will play a critical role in supporting our policy and data work by conducting quantitative analysis, developing data visualizations, and creating impactful advocacy and policy tools.
Key Responsibilities- Conduct in-depth quantitative analysis of data related to global and African development issues, across our policy priorities.
- Develop innovative products, tools, and infrastructure that leverage data commons and AI to drive meaningful change in support of our mission.
- Support the development and maintenance of our global policy and strategy team's data infrastructure and databases, including the ETL process and associated Python tools.
- Contribute to the development and maintenance of our platform on data and analysis on the economic, political, and social changes impacting Africa.
- Effectively communicate key trends and results from analysis to a broad audience.
- Design and develop new products for the analysis presentation of data, including Python packages and scripts, Observable notebooks and projects, and Flourish/Plot data visualizations.
- Provide training and support to our team on quantitative analysis, data analysis principles, data visualization guidelines, and our data tools.
- Prepare written documents on policy issues, including briefings, report chapters, policy analyses, blog posts, op-eds, talking points, and other products.
- Provide general fact-checking and data analysis as needed by our policy team and others within the organization.
- Participate in outreach and engagement activities to expand our data brand and influence among the NGO/non-profit/think-tank and data science communities.
- Bachelor's or master's degree, or equivalent experience, in economics, political science, international affairs, data science, or other relevant field.
- At least 4 years of applicable experience (post-graduate).
- Strong quantitative analysis skills, with demonstrated skills in data extraction and transformation. Experience using Python professionally is required. Experience using JavaScript is strongly desired.
- Excellent communication skills, with the ability to translate complex data and analysis into clear and compelling narratives.
- Strong skills or experience with data visualization and information design.
- Quick turnaround research skills, with the ability to seek out key facts and statistics to explain complicated policy topics to a broad audience.
- Ability to synthesize policy documents with an eye to key points and relevance to our mission.
- Ability to manage multiple, shifting priorities under tight deadlines while performing in a fast-paced, collaborative environment.
- Related work history in development economics, development finance, poverty and infectious disease alleviation, advocacy, policy, legislation, and/or demonstrable interest in the causes we support.
- Critical thinking, communication, and relationship-building skills.
- Flexible and resourceful.
Excellent written and verbal English communication skills. Fluency in English is required. Proficiency in another language such as German or French is desired.
