We invite you to be part of a dedicated engineering team. Baxter is seeking a proactive Service Engineering Specialist with a focus on electrical systems. Your primary location will be in the UK, with travel commitments of approximately 50%, including opportunities across Europe (company vehicle provided). In this position, you will play a crucial role in improving the availability, reliability, and performance of equipment at our manufacturing sites that produce essential medications, including chemotherapy and nutritional solutions. This role offers a platform to showcase your problem-solving skills while overseeing maintenance operations and advancing your professional development.

The position is structured for 37.5 hours per week, with flexible working patterns based on operational demands. For instance, you may work three consecutive days in one location followed by time off. Opportunities for overtime and compensatory days off are available depending on the workload. This role may require working on public holidays.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Uphold a safety-first mindset in all aspects of the role.
  • Spearhead problem-solving initiatives, addressing issues at the core of manufacturing equipment.
  • Oversee shutdown planning and execution, including all related activities.
  • Strive to enhance plant availability and operational efficiency metrics.
  • Ensure optimal equipment availability and reliability through various maintenance strategies.
  • Plan and execute the installation, testing, operation, maintenance, and repair of critical equipment.
  • Develop and implement preventative maintenance protocols that align with quality assurance standards.
  • Coordinate engineering activities, managing contractors and service providers.
  • Conduct administrative tasks, including report writing and procurement decisions.
  • Manage critical spare parts inventory and collaborate with engineering teams on resource sharing.
  • Supervise external contractors in compliance with safety regulations and operational standards.
  • Review contractor documentation to ensure accuracy and cost-effectiveness.
  • Collaborate with various departments, including Engineering Management, Operations, and Quality Assurance.

Required Qualifications/Experience:

We seek individuals who are passionate about engineering and eager to learn and grow.

  • Degree or relevant qualifications (e.g., NVQs, HNC)
  • Experience in cleanroom or aseptic manufacturing is preferred but not mandatory.
  • Technical knowledge of cleanroom systems is advantageous but not essential.
  • Strong communication skills are essential for effective collaboration across multiple sites.
  • Experience in maintenance and project engineering roles is beneficial.
  • A valid UK driving license is required due to travel obligations.
  • Familiarity with PLC systems, particularly Siemens and TIA Portal, is a plus but not required.
  • Understanding of GMP standards is desirable.
