Job Title: ASD Teaching Assistant (Secondary)

GSL Education's Newcastle branch is currently recruiting an ASD Teaching Assistant to work in a supportive and inclusive secondary school located in South Shields.

About the Role:

We seek a compassionate and patient individual who can provide tailored support to students with Autism Spectrum Disorder.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Provide tailored support to students with Autism Spectrum Disorder in classroom and social settings.
  • Assist teachers in adapting lesson plans to meet the needs of students with ASD.
  • Support students with communication, social interaction, and behaviour management.
  • Help students develop independent learning skills and manage their emotions.
  • Collaborate with SEN staff and parents to monitor student progress.
Requirements:
  • Experience working with students with ASD or other learning needs is essential.
  • A compassionate and patient approach to supporting students with additional needs.
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills.
  • Ability to work collaboratively with teachers, SEN staff, and parents.
  • A relevant teaching assistant qualification or equivalent experience is desirable but not essential.
