About the Role:

We are seeking a highly skilled Building Surveyor to join our team at Associated British Ports. As a key member of our Property Team, you will play a crucial role in supporting the Lead Building Surveyor with estate management and commercial team activity nationally.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Attend sites at all ports as and when required to complete Dilapidation, Pre-Acquisition Surveys, Condition Reports, Project Management, feasibility studies and other Building Surveying related tasks.
  • Support the Reinstatement Cost Assessment process, including managing outsourced suppliers, preparation of desktop assessments and advice on building costs and building cost indices.
  • Manage and support the procurement of external building surveying and project management advice for the property function.
  • Assist in the implementation of building upgrades to meet our vision for Carbon Neutrality by 2040 and the MEES regulations.
  • Produce written reports, emails, presentations, as required, ready for review and approval by the Lead Building Surveyor.
  • Provide ongoing support to the property team with all current projects, including negotiation of dilapidation settlements, reviews of specifications, review of consultant proposals and reports, etc.
  • Assess requests from the property team for dilapidation schedules, analyze responses, and provide recommendations to the Lead Building Surveyor.
  • Attend Hub offices and liaise with property and commercial teams to look for missed opportunities or provide general technical advice when required.
  • Fly an ABP drone when required to complete roof inspections, etc., including pre-flight risk assessments and logging on Drone Scene.
  • Prepare AutoCAD drawings as required to support works, inspections, etc.
  • Access GIS Viewer to download leases, licenses, etc.

Requirements:

  • Enthusiasm, approachability, and the ability to form relationships and work well with others within the property team.
  • Experience of working in a Building Surveying Environment.
