Senior Power Systems Engineer

Position: Senior Power Systems Engineer

Key Responsibilities:
The successful candidate will be responsible for the following tasks:
- Development of AC and DC power generation and distribution frameworks, including sizing, protection, control, and specification of power supplies and converters.
- Design and implementation of motor drives, control systems, and positioning technologies.
- Management and verification of electromagnetic compatibility (EMC).
- Specification and oversight of custom hardware procurement.
- Verification of designs through simulation, analysis, and testing, including collaboration with EMC testing facilities and customer sites.
- Creation of design documentation and technical reports.
- Collaboration with related engineering disciplines.
- Compliance with Engineering Lifecycle processes and participation in progress, peer, and design reviews.
- Provision of Electrical Engineering expertise to project teams.
Qualifications and Experience:
The ideal candidate will possess a degree or equivalent qualification in Electrical/Electronic Engineering or a closely related field, along with experience in one or more of the following areas:
- Development of component-level electronic designs for mass production.
- Experience in defense or high safety integrity environments.
- Knowledge of Electrical Safety Standards and EMC qualification per DEF STAN 59-411.
- Proven experience in design validation, integration, and defect resolution.
- Ability to gather evidence supporting acceptance, fitness for purpose, and compliance with legislative requirements and safety standards.
- A methodical approach to safety considerations related to high power/high voltage systems.
- Experience in supporting new electrical circuit board designs and upgrades, ensuring compliance with acceptance and safety standards.
