Position Overview

This role offers a unique opportunity for an individual to embark on a 4-year apprenticeship in mechanical healthcare engineering. Throughout this apprenticeship, the selected candidate will work towards achieving NVQ levels 2 and 3 in mechanical engineering, which will equip them with essential theoretical knowledge vital for any engineering professional.

Training and Development

During the apprenticeship, the candidate will collaborate closely with a seasoned healthcare engineering team, who will provide guidance and mentorship to develop the specific practical skills and expertise necessary to become a fully qualified hospital engineer.

In the final year of the apprenticeship, the candidate will begin to focus on various healthcare disciplines managed by the mechanical maintenance team, which encompass:

  • Ventilation Systems
  • Water Supply Services
  • Medical Gas Systems
  • Decontamination and Sterilization Services
  • Pressure Systems, including steam and high-temperature hot water boilers

Upon successful completion of all required qualifications, the candidate will transition into a fully qualified role, responsible for performing engineering maintenance tasks on all mechanical services, systems, plants, and equipment, both planned and reactive, in accordance with current regulations.
