CNC Machinist Position

This is a fixed-term opportunity to cover off-peak activity for a period of six months. The successful candidate will be based at our Ampthill site and will work within a CNC precision machine shop environment as a skilled CNC Miller.
Key Responsibilities- Programming, setting, and tool selection for multiple machine tools, including multi-axis machining centers with various programming languages (3 to 6 axis).
- Supporting the development of machining processes and tooling/fixture design.
- Mentoring and training of others, including apprentices.
- Working to specifications, procedures, and engineering drawings.
- Developing and improving work procedures/processes with the engineering team.
- Problem-solving machine issues and facilitating corrective action plans.
- Prioritizing workload to meet deliverable commitments and support production schedules to optimize machine utilization.
- Demonstrating high-quality standards and supporting improvement initiatives.
- Ability to work from detailed engineering drawings producing conforming product.
- Competent CNC Milling experience, with turning experience desirable.
- Ability to program/post-process using Fanuc & Heidenhain languages.
- Understanding and execution of CAD/CAM software.
- Conversant with multi-axis machining methods (3 to 6 axis).
- Good knowledge of inspection techniques and measuring equipment.
- General engineering workshop practices and proven manufacturing experience.
- Ability to work from written and verbal process instructions.
- Ability to work independently from concept through to manufacture.
- Adherence to Housekeeping and 6S standards within defined work areas.
- Adherence to mechanical and manual lifting processes.
- High level of CoSHH and H&S awareness.
- Competent computer skills, including MS-office, MRP systems.
- Good communication and reporting skills.
