Cost Manager

Job Summary
Turner & Townsend is seeking a highly skilled Cost Manager to join our team. As a Cost Manager, you will be responsible for delivering high-quality cost management services to our clients across various projects.
Key Responsibilities
- Assist in feasibility studies and write procurement reports
- Estimate and cost plan, including producing and presenting the final cost plan, utilizing relevant cost management tools and services
- Tender and procure, including managing the pre-qualification stage, producing the tender list, producing the preliminaries, tender analysis, producing the tender report, and compiling the contractual documents
- Conduct contract administration, including dealing effectively with post-contract cost variances and change control processes
- Take personal responsibility for making cost checks and carrying out valuations on larger projects
- Produce monthly post-contract cost reports and present them to clients
- Contribute to value engineering
- Negotiate and agree final accounts
- Interface with clients, project managers, and other consultants at all project stages
- Work collaboratively with Turner & Townsend's project management team during project delivery
- Lead a cost management team, ensuring they deliver on all accountabilities
- Utilize Turner & Townsend's full suite of bespoke digital cost management tools and services
- Implement the Embodied Carbon Calculator to produce carbon footprint reports
- Support the execution of Turner & Townsend's NewLeaf strategy
- Manage internal fees, internal job costing, and resourcing requirements
Marketing and Business Development
- Identify opportunities to develop new business with existing clients and report such opportunities to the appropriate line manager
- Develop and maintain a professional network of peers and potential clients
- Assist in the production of bid documentation
- Identify ways to improve cost management procedures, templates, and products
- Participate in extracurricular activities, including external groups and networking events
Internal Management Accountabilities
- Knowledge management - ensure key information and learning generated from each commission is input into Turner & Townsend's internal database
- Process improvement - identify ways to improve internal systems and processes and refer ideas to the appropriate line manager
- Assist in the support, development, and mentorship of junior staff members
Reporting
A Cost Manager will report to a Senior Cost Manager or Associate Director.
Key Performance Indicators
- Commissions are managed to the right quality standards and are completed efficiently and on time
- Service delivery on commissions is in line with the conditions of appointment
- Good relationships are developed with clients and members of the cross-functional team
- They work as an effective member of the cost management team, including taking effective responsibility for Assistant Cost Managers
- Opportunities are identified to develop new business with existing clients
- Margins are kept track of on all commissions
- Key information and data are effectively cascaded and appropriately retained
Requirements
- A proven track record of delivering high-quality cost management/quantity surveying services across the full project lifecycle
- Degree or HNC level qualification
- Professionally qualified (RICS or similar)
