NES Fircroft is seeking a highly skilled Instrumentation Specialist to join our team. As an Instrumentation Specialist, you will provide front-line technical support to our operations team, ensuring the reliability and efficiency of our plant instrumentation and control systems.
Key Responsibilities- Develop and implement instrument and control system improvements to enhance plant performance and reliability.
- Collaborate with the projects team to provide technical input and ensure compliance with relevant standards and regulations.
- Lead discipline improvements in plant reliability, equipment strategy, defect elimination, and equipment rationalization.
- Define and own the asset's instrument and control system spares strategy.
- Lead discipline improvements in plant reliability, root cause analysis, defect elimination, and continuous improvement.
- Participate in safety reviews, risk assessments, and investigations as the Instrumentation and Control Systems engineering focal point.
- Act as custodian of asset maintenance strategies for instrument and control equipment.
- Support the maintenance team in regards to equipment breakdown, including investigation of fault, defect resolution, and execution of breakdown maintenance.
- Monitor and advise on the technical and safety implications of any maintenance backlog.
- Act as custodian of key instrument and control engineering documentation, including control philosophies, cause and effect diagrams, hazardous area drawings, loop diagrams, trip and alarms registers, alarm response manual, ensuring same are kept up-to-date.
- Provide technical support to asset TAR activities.
- Coach asset instrument technicians to ensure their competency and skills are continually improved.
- Participate in incident management team.
- Travel to offshore platforms or remote onshore sites to provide technical support.
- Support planned and unplanned outages.
- Participate in the Asset self-audit program.
- Hold a Degree in Instrument Engineering.
- Be a Chartered Engineer or actively working to achieve chartered status.
- Hold BOSIET, Medical, and MIST certifications for offshore travel.
- Have 5+ years' experience in the Oil and Gas, Refining, or Chemical Industries.
- Have knowledge and experience of the design, operation, commissioning, and maintenance of legacy instrument equipment, control systems, and ESD systems.
- Have a comprehensive understanding and applied knowledge of relevant UK Regulatory (Safety Case, COMAH, etc) and industry standards.
