Position Overview

We are seeking a dedicated and skilled nurse to become a vital member of the Cardiology Team at Manchester University NHS Foundation Trust. This full-time position is for a band 7 specialist nurse with a solid background in cardiology.

The role necessitates prior experience in cardiology nursing and a keen interest in the field of heart rhythm management.

Key Responsibilities

The successful candidate will be expected to exhibit exceptional communication skills when interacting with patients and their families, particularly those who have experienced out-of-hospital cardiac arrest, as well as those dealing with acute and chronic cardiac rhythm management conditions.

Provide expert knowledge and guidance on advanced cardiac devices, including Permanent Pacemakers (PPM), Implantable Cardioverter Defibrillators (ICD), and Cardiac Resynchronization Therapy devices (CRT-P and CRT-D).

Collaborate effectively with the multidisciplinary team on all aspects of cardiac rhythm management, ensuring seamless communication with consultants, registrars, general practitioners, cardiac physiologists, nurse practitioners, heart failure teams, rehabilitation teams, physiotherapists, occupational therapists, and support staff to deliver a coordinated and comprehensive service.

Demonstrate proficiency in managing emotional responses such as conflict, anger, and depression in patients with cardiac rhythm disorders.

Develop and showcase advanced skills in organizing and executing elective cardioversion (DCCV) procedures, triaging patient symptoms, and delivering DCCV services efficiently.

Exhibit advanced capabilities in planning and conducting Ajmaline Challenge tests.

Organize and lead educational sessions covering all aspects of cardiac rhythm management.
