Job Summary

As an Environmental Health Specialist, you will play a key role in ensuring the health and safety of our community by enforcing regulations and providing technical advice to businesses.

Main Responsibilities
  • Conduct programmed inspections of food businesses, investigating complaints and participating in sampling programs.
  • Support infectious disease investigations, investigate accidents and health and safety complaints.
  • Provide professional and technical advice to businesses and colleagues, responding to a range of enquiries.
  • Manage approved establishments and other high-risk process businesses.
  • Contribute to our successful Primary Authority Partnership.
Requirements
  • Well-organized, efficient, and dependable, with the ability to work within a fast-moving and challenging environment.
  • Ability to adjust to demands and define priorities, work rapidly and accurately, and communicate effectively with other professionals, elected members, senior managers, and the general public.
  • Flexible approach to working hours, including evening and weekend work, and willingness to participate in the out-of-hours service.
  • Full driving license and access to a car for work purposes.
