Position Overview:
Our client, Mellis Blue, a prominent firm in the accounting sector, is seeking a skilled Accounts Senior with extensive experience in UK practice.

Role Purpose:
To deliver exceptional service to clients within a designated area and to aid in the growth of the practice with minimal oversight.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Prepare client financial statements and tax filings based on client-provided information, advising on tax liabilities and deadlines, and finalizing documentation for submission to clients and HM Revenue & Customs.
  • Engage with clients to gather necessary information for their accounts, demonstrating proactive communication and meticulous attention to detail.
  • Collaborate with Managers to enhance understanding of clients and their operations, becoming their primary contact for daily inquiries.
  • Assist Partners and Managers in tax strategy development for current and prospective clients, contributing to the enhancement of client businesses and individual wealth.
  • Support Partners and Managers with specific projects, including business planning, advisory services, and tax-related matters.
  • Identify opportunities for business and personal tax planning, bringing these to the attention of Partners or clients as necessary, and preparing relevant reports and computations while coordinating with other professionals as needed.
  • Monitor personal job quality and output in accordance with established budgets, striving to meet and exceed targets.
  • Track billable hours to ensure maximum recovery.
  • Provide on-the-job training and mentorship to junior staff.
  • Participate in relevant training courses to enhance job performance.
  • Utilize appropriate support resources to clarify complex queries, such as CCH or software vendors.
  • Handle bookkeeping, ledger maintenance, supplier management, and management accounts as required.
  • Assist clients with tax return preparation based on their provided information, ensuring compliance with firm standards.
  • Support clients with accounting software and bookkeeping inquiries as needed.
  • Participate in client seminars, including setup and attendance as required.
  • Assist the Partner and Manager in promoting the Firm in collaboration with the marketing team.

Essential Knowledge:
  • Comprehensive knowledge of accounts preparation.
  • Familiarity with accounting systems such as CCH, Xero, Sage Line 50, Farmplan, and other relevant software.

Qualifications:
Essential:
ACA or ACCA qualified.

Desirable:
Degree or equivalent experience.

A minimum of 2 years of proven accounts experience in a practice setting.
