Job Title: Engineering Delivery Manager - Project Lead

Job Summary:

Thales is seeking an experienced Engineering Delivery Manager to lead the delivery of complex engineering projects. As a key member of our team, you will be responsible for defining and executing the engineering delivery strategy, managing interfaces with the overall delivery strategy, and ensuring the delivery of high-quality engineering solutions to our customers.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Lead High-Performing Teams: Manage and motivate high-performing, multi-discipline engineering teams to generate innovative engineering solutions that meet customer needs.
  • Define Engineering Delivery Strategy: Develop and execute the engineering delivery strategy, including resource allocation, budgeting, and risk management.
  • Manage Interfaces: Collaborate with the overall Programme Director, Programme Managers, Engineering Delivery Lead, and Head of Engineering Delivery to ensure seamless delivery of engineering projects.
  • Work with Programme Manager: Define the organisation and work breakdown required to deliver to customer needs, and work with the Programme Manager to ensure alignment with overall programme objectives.
  • Define Engineering Team's Work Packages: Define the engineering team's work packages, including resources required, budgets assigned to each task, risks, and assumptions.
  • Plan and Prioritise Activities: Plan and prioritise activities required to deliver the solution to the contract schedule, costs, and quality.
  • Day-to-Day Management: Manage the engineering team's activities, ensuring proactive management of issues, opportunities, and risks.
  • Manage and Report Engineering Efficiency: Manage and report on engineering efficiency for the project, identifying opportunities for improvement.
  • Identify Re-Use Opportunities: Identify re-use opportunities across the project, ensuring maximum value is extracted from engineering solutions.
  • Act as People Manager: Act as the People Manager for the engineering team on the project, providing feedback into people manager reviews with functional discipline leads.

Requirements:

  • Strong Engineering Background: A strong background in engineering, with experience in successfully defining and leading the delivery of multi-disciplinary engineering projects.
  • Customer Focus: Highly customer-focused, with excellent communication skills and the ability to work in a fast-moving environment with multiple parallel objectives.
  • Knowledge and Experience: Knowledge and experience of naval products would be beneficial to this role.
