About the Role

We are seeking a highly skilled and motivated Registered Nurse to join our dynamic Outpatient Team at University Hospitals of Leicester NHS Trust. As a key member of our team, you will be responsible for delivering high-quality patient-centered care in a variety of clinics, including Ophthalmology, Rheumatology, Dermatology, Gynaecology, and ENT.

Main Responsibilities
  • Assess, plan, implement, and evaluate programs of evidenced-based nursing care to a group of patients.
  • Contribute to setting and maintaining high standards of quality nursing care.
  • Act as Nurse in Charge, coordinating shifts daily and supporting all members of the Outpatients team.
  • Act as a clinical and professional role model, assessing and supporting students and learners on placement within the clinical area.
  • Perform clinical procedures, including blood taking, wound dressings, and other tasks appropriate to the clinical specialty.
  • Manage specific outpatient clinic areas on a daily basis, including taking charge as designated.
  • Act as mentor and supervisor for Student Nurses.
  • Act as link nurse for various specialist areas, including Infection Prevention, Tissue Viability, and Older People's Champion.
  • Administer medication within the department in line with Trust Policy.
  • Participate in the provision of nursing and clinical support to specialist clinics throughout the Outpatients Department.
  • Participate in the supervision of other staff groups (bands 1-4) in the performance of their individual roles and duties.
  • Assist in maintaining a safe environment for staff, patients, and visitors, reporting any accidents or potential hazards to the nurse in charge.
  • Contribute to effective communication within the multi-disciplinary team, receiving regular team updates and information for the effective day-to-day running of the department.

Person Specification
  • Valid NMC registration.
  • Has successfully completed an NMC-approved teaching and assessing or Practice Assessor program.
  • Must hold a full UK driving license.
  • Demonstrates the ability to maintain effective interpersonal relationships with colleagues.
  • Demonstrates a basic knowledge of IT.
  • Demonstrates an understanding of the importance of delivering high-quality clinical nursing care.
  • Previous experience working within an outpatient setting.
  • Demonstrates an understanding of the importance of treating all individuals with dignity and respect appropriate to their needs.
