Job Title: Electronics Design Engineer

Job Summary:

Filtronic is seeking an experienced Electronics Design Engineer to join our team. As an Electronics Design Engineer, you will be responsible for designing and developing electronic circuits and systems for our radio frequency products.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Design and layout electronic circuits incorporating mixed technologies for telecommunications and defence products.
  • Develop detailed analogue and digital electronic circuit specifications and designs, including component selection and circuit simulation.
  • Define circuit board requirements, including materials and layer stack-up.
  • Generate schematics and PCB layouts, including preparation and implementation of best practice design flow procedures, library management, BoM generation, and control.
  • Deliver fully verified and documented designs in line with project-defined technical, schedule, and cost constraints.
  • Perform thermal, MTBF, and component derating analysis.
  • Complete and check design documentation, including design logbooks, data packs, peer review, and design release.
  • Communicate and negotiate design specs and changes with PCB vendors and CEM subcontractors.
  • Undertake design verification and validation, including preparation of test specifications, test reports, and reliability testing/evaluation.
  • Participate in design reviews and initiate design reviews to mitigate risk.
  • Handle component obsolescence issues and propose suitable alternatives.
  • Problem-solve and fault diagnose manufactured products during product introduction, including definition and train-out of diagnostic procedures.

Requirements:

  • Relevant degree (or equivalent).
  • Experience in circuit schematic, multi-layer, mixed-technology layout, and manufacturing pack generation using Altium Designer.
  • Demonstrable experience of component-level electronic circuit design, layout, and development.
  • Awareness of high-volume surface mount process/technologies and design for high-volume manufacture.
  • Excellent hands-on measurement and diagnostic skills using electronic and RF test equipment.
  • Ability to conduct minor SMT reworks down to 0402 component size desirable.
  • Experience of RF/microwave electronic circuit design and implementation desirable.
