This position offers a hybrid working arrangement, where your work will be split between remote work and the Central Transport Office (Bracknell). Occasional travel to various locations may be required.
About the Role:
This is an excellent opportunity for a professional with a technical background in fleet management or workshop operations seeking to enhance their career. As our Fleet Technical Engineer, you will deliver engineering solutions tailored to the Partnership's transport requirements.
Your Key Responsibilities Include:
- Support to Vehicle Engineering Manager:
- Identify operational vehicle requirements.
- Develop and manage vehicle specifications to ensure efficiency, cost-effectiveness, and compliance with regulations.
- Manufacturer Coordination:
- Evaluate vehicle manufacturers' offerings and compile a list of approved suppliers and models.
- Ensure compliance of manufacturers with established specifications.
- Vehicle Compliance and Delivery:
- Verify that new vehicles meet legal and health & safety standards.
- Collaborate with CV Operations and Procurement to ensure timely delivery of vehicles as per specifications.
- Fleet Development:
- Stay informed about advancements in vehicle materials and equipment.
- Analyze maintenance data, whole-life vehicle costs, and fuel efficiency.
- Vehicle Branding and Systems Oversight:
- Design vehicle branding in accordance with marketing and regulatory standards.
- Oversee telematics, fuel monitoring systems, and bulk fuel infrastructure.
- Implement measures to prevent environmental incidents and fuel theft.
- Manage fuel oversight and support systems to comply with legal and operational requirements.
- Infrastructure Oversight:
- Supervise automated truck washing systems and vehicle weighing equipment.
Essential Qualifications:
- Qualifications in vehicle repair and maintenance (NVQ 3, BTec, HNC, HND or equivalent).
- Experience in fleet management, road transport, or workshop environments, particularly in a technical capacity.
- Proficiency in standard PC applications (Word, Excel, PowerPoint or equivalent).
Preferred Skills:
- Transport Manager CPC in Road Haulage.
- Familiarity with project management and procurement processes.
