Job Overview

NES Fircroft is seeking a highly skilled Instrument Engineer to join their team at Hartlepool. The successful candidate will be responsible for maximising plant availability by optimising and improving reliability performance.

Key Responsibilities
  • Develop detailed technical specifications for plant instrument equipment and repairs, ensuring timely approval and completion to the required standard.
  • Provide technical support to the plant team, taking an active role in troubleshooting and problem-solving activities.
  • Collaborate with the plant team during PM events and outages to resolve emergent issues and technically specify emergent work.
  • Stay up-to-date with the latest technologies and reliability improvement techniques, driving continuous improvement of the plant's reliability performance.
  • Contribute to safety reviews, safety committees, risk assessments, and incident investigations, completing necessary actions.
  • Maintain and update the area I&E life plan, recommending timely CAPEX replacement and repair.
  • Perform thorough I&E engineering assessments of plant modifications to mitigate engineering risks.
Candidate Requirements
  • A minimum HND in Instrumentation Engineering is required.
  • Substantial Instrumentation Engineering experience in a 24/7 industrial environment is essential, including:
  • Support Maintenance & Complex Fault Finding
  • Support Operations & PM Planning
  • Development, implementation & evaluation of improvements and modifications.
  • Involvement in projects from feasibility to handover.
  • Membership in a professional body with or working towards Incorporated Engineer status.
  • 5+ years of industry experience in the Upper Tier COMAH manufacturing sector is desirable.
  • Knowledge of functional safety and experience of working with IEC 61508 and 61511 standards.
  • Knowledge of the relevant standards associated with SIL Assessment and the management and maintenance of Safety Instrumented Systems.
  • Knowledge of MOD300 and Delta V DCS Systems.
