We have an excellent opportunity for a Cost Manager to join our Oxford office, working within a sociable environment and as part of a team of 16 cost managers from junior to senior level. You'll be working with a number of flagship clients in the local market, including Oxford University, Harwell Science Campus, Oxford Business Park, and local schools, with a focus on Education, Life Science & Healthcare sectors.

As a Cost Manager at Gleeds, you'll have the opportunity to develop your career, build strong relationships with longstanding clients, and pursue additional qualifications with full support from the business. You'll be responsible for supporting Business Unit Directors in delivering business objectives, positively engaging with customers, and delivering high-quality services that meet customers' requirements.

Responsibilities

  • Support Business Unit Directors in delivering business objectives.
  • Positively engage with customers and develop, grow, and maintain customer relationships.
  • Deliver high-quality services and ensure that cost management deliverables meet customers' requirements.
  • Manage projects to deliver high-quality services and deliverables in accordance with business procedures.
  • Prepare and present order of cost estimates and option studies.
  • Cost planning and benchmarking.
  • Cost-in-use studies.
  • Advising on and implementing procurement strategies.
  • Valuing completed work and arranging for payments.
  • Settling final accounts.
  • Providing technical advice on legal and contractual issues relating to construction projects.
  • Administering contracts as Contract Administrator or Employer's Agent.
  • Managing service delivery for profit.
  • Advising Directors promptly of any issues that have arisen, or that might arise, on projects; in particular those that might impact on Gleeds' professional indemnity (PI) insurance.
  • Actively identifying new business development opportunities and driving growth across the Business Units' activities.

About You

We're looking for a Cost Manager with broad, in-depth cost management experience post-MRICS qualification. You'll need detailed knowledge and practiced experience of cost estimating and cost planning techniques, as well as comprehensive knowledge of construction procurement strategies, including tendering and contract strategies.

You'll also need thorough knowledge and experience of post-contract cost management tasks, the ability to administer construction contracts as Contract Administrator and Employer's Agent, and a clear understanding of legislation impacting on building contracts.
