About the Role

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Epilepsy Specialist Nurse to join our Children's Community and Specialist Nursing Team at Lancashire Teaching Hospitals. This is an exciting opportunity to work with a dedicated team of professionals who are passionate about delivering high-quality care to children and young people with epilepsy.

Key Responsibilities
  • Provide specialist advice, support, and education to children, young people, and their families upon diagnosis of epilepsy and throughout their care journey.
  • Act as a nurse specialist in raising the profile of the Epilepsy service, including the Roald Dahl Charity, and contribute to the development of evidence-based guidelines and protocols for the management of epilepsy.
  • Work collaboratively with the nursing team, lead Consultant, and other healthcare professionals to provide direct expert nursing care to patients and their families.
  • Develop and deliver structured education to schools, nurseries, and other agencies to promote awareness and understanding of epilepsy.
  • Contribute to the continuous improvement of the service through teaching, support, and clinical supervision of other healthcare professionals.
  • Participate in research activity and clinical audits to enhance awareness and opportunities for evidence-based patient care.
Requirements
  • Registered Children's Nurse with a first-level degree or diploma in Paediatric Nursing, Specialist Practitioner degree, or equivalent.
  • Significant post-registration experience, including leadership and management experience, and experience of working with children with epilepsy.
  • Advanced Communications Skills Training or willingness to work towards.
  • Ability to lead and influence change, and experience of working in a multidisciplinary team.
