Position Overview

Role: Secondary Science Educator

Salary Range: £30,000 - £46,525

Location: Southampton

Employment Type: Full-time, Long Term

GSL Education is actively looking for a dedicated Secondary Science Educator to join a local secondary institution. The successful applicant will be tasked with providing exceptional Science instruction to secondary students, crafting engaging lesson plans, and tracking student development in line with the national educational framework. This position requires collaboration with the Science department and close interaction with the Head of Faculty. The institution emphasizes the importance of nurturing essential skills, critical thinking, and innovative problem-solving, which are core to its educational philosophy.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Design and implement Science lessons that align with the national educational standards, addressing the diverse needs of students.
  • Utilize a variety of instructional strategies, including lectures, collaborative activities, and hands-on experiments, to boost student participation.
  • Assess student performance through regular evaluations, assignments, and examinations.
  • Offer constructive feedback to students and guardians, pinpointing areas for enhancement and strategies for success.
  • Leverage technology and educational resources to enrich the learning environment.
  • Engage in extracurricular initiatives such as science clubs, exhibitions, and educational trips.
  • Work alongside colleagues to execute school-wide programs and initiatives.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in Science or a related discipline.
  • Teaching certification or qualification (e.g., PGCE, QTS).
  • Prior experience in teaching Science at the secondary level.
  • In-depth understanding of the national curriculum and assessment techniques.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal abilities.
  • Team-oriented collaborator.
  • Current DBS check.
