Purchasing Manager Job Description

Assure Personnel is seeking a seasoned Purchasing Manager to lead the procurement efforts for an industrial client. This role will be based in Loughton and will report directly to the Director.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Product Sourcing: Identify and select new products for wholesale and retail trade, ensuring alignment with company goals and market trends.
  • Order Management: Approve and sign off on all stock purchase orders and pricing, ensuring timely delivery and optimal costs.
  • Inventory Management: Maintain accurate stock levels, ensuring full availability and minimizing stockouts.
  • Product Development: Collaborate with the buying, test, and marketing teams to launch new products within specified timeframes.
  • Quality Control: Review goods inward quality control reports, new product evaluation reports, and warranty reports to inform company decisions.
  • Range Management: Work with the team to determine which products to delete from the range, ensuring alignment with market demands.
  • Marketing Collaboration: Partner with the marketing team to identify products for promotional activities.
  • Trade and Retail Pricing: Set prices for new products based on company margin requirements, ensuring competitiveness in the market.
  • Market Research: Continuously review the retail market to ensure current and new products remain competitive.
  • Logistics: Select inbound shipping agencies to optimize delivery times and costs.
Requirements:
  • A minimum of 10 years of procurement and management experience, with at least 5 years in a management position.
  • Entrepreneurial mindset with a can-do attitude.
  • Proven track record of direct imports of finished consumer products from the Far East.
  • Ability to influence key financial purchasing issues and senior team members.
  • Excellent communication and presentation skills.
  • Ability to plan, prioritize, and delegate to achieve deadlines.
  • Proven leadership skills, with a track record of leading teams.
