We are currently seeking a Telecommunications and Signalling Specialist to join our S&T Infrastructure Team, responsible for ensuring the safe and effective execution of maintenance and repair operations.

As a Telecommunications and Signalling Specialist, your key responsibilities will include:

  • Completing inspection and maintenance tasks promptly and in accordance with the established maintenance schedule.
  • Adhering to proper procedures during work tasks.
  • Performing maintenance and repairs on signalling and telecommunications systems.
  • Supervising contractors engaged in planned maintenance activities.
  • Assisting with the testing and commissioning of new systems.
  • Managing the switching operations of electrical substations.
  • Collaborating with external contractors for planned maintenance work.
  • Continuously evaluating and enhancing work practices while embracing new technologies.
  • Being available for emergency situations and unplanned repairs outside regular hours.
  • Participating in on-call duties.
  • Conducting night shift work as required by management.
To excel in this role, you should possess:

  • A solid understanding of rail or light rail infrastructure or similar complex signalling and communication systems.
  • Proficiency in electrical and mechanical systems.
  • A recognized Electrical Qualification at Level 3 or higher.
  • Experience with computer-based diagnostic tools.
  • Strong computer literacy and writing capabilities.
  • The ability to interpret and understand electrical schematics.
  • A valid driving license.
It would be advantageous if you have:

  • A management and leadership qualification, such as ILM Level 2 or equivalent.
  • Skills in fibre and data maintenance, repair, and installation, including associated systems.
  • Experience in leading teams and managing maintenance technicians, ensuring their performance and conduct.
  • The capability to program and interrogate parameters in safety-critical signalling software.
