Student Retention Officer - Manchester

We are seeking a dedicated and compassionate Student Retention Officer to join our team at GBS Global Applied Knowledge. As a Student Retention Officer, you will play a vital role in supporting students in their educational journey, helping them to overcome challenges and achieve their goals.

The purpose of this role is to ensure the highest possible student retention and progression rates, working closely with the Head of Student Retention, Student Success Tutors, and academic staff to develop effective strategies to engage students and support their academic success.

Main Responsibilities:

  • Work with individual students who have been reported as dis-engaged to help them return to productive study.
  • Ensure all assigned students are contacted and gain an understanding of the barriers to study they are encountering.
  • Keep accurate and timely records of student interactions and progress.
  • Develop bespoke plans to support each student's return to study, working under the direction of the Head of Student Retention and in collaboration with relevant academics.
  • Work with internal and external stakeholders to ensure students remain engaged with their studies.
  • Operate within professional frameworks and guidelines when dealing with non-attending students.
  • Assist with the administration of surveys and collection of results for analysis.
  • Support Registry with induction and enrolment processes as required.

Requirements:

  • Educated to degree level or equivalent, with knowledge of safeguarding legislation and best practice.
  • Previous experience working with students in higher education, specifically with mature students.
  • Strong communication skills and ability to adapt messages for diverse audiences.
  • Ability to plan and prioritise effectively, work collaboratively, and build positive relationships with students.
  • High level of computer literacy and proficiency in Microsoft Office.
