Position Overview

Are you a Chartered Civil/Structural Engineer seeking your next opportunity?

Due to an increase in our project demands, we are in search of a Chartered (or Nearly Chartered) Engineer to enhance our esteemed Building Structures Team in Birmingham. You will be instrumental in delivering a diverse array of projects within the Building Design sector, both in the UK and internationally. As a vital member of our team, you will oversee the creation of designs that are innovative, ethical, sustainable, and responsible, contributing to projects that enhance the quality of life for individuals today and in the future.

AtkinsRéalis’ Building Design practice provides engineering solutions across a variety of projects related to buildings and infrastructure, covering sectors such as Education, Commercial, Industrial, Residential, Defence, Energy, and Transportation. This role offers the chance to collaborate with major clients on exciting and high-profile projects that will both challenge and develop your skills and career.

Key Qualifications:
  • Chartered Engineer status, MIStructE or MICE (or nearly Chartered).
  • Proven experience in leading the structural engineering delivery of smaller projects, including managing focused project teams to meet deadlines and budget constraints.
  • Expertise in the design of common structural materials, along with a solid understanding of current design standards and practices.
  • Demonstrated experience in advancing projects from concept through to construction.
  • Strong communication and presentation skills to foster client relationships.
  • Ability to make informed decisions, take initiative, and work proactively.
Your Responsibilities:
  • Oversee multiple projects or segments of larger projects to ensure timely completion within budget.
  • Guarantee the delivery of efficient, high-quality structural engineering designs.
  • Act as the primary contact for clients, contractors, design teams, and third parties.
  • Provide mentorship and support to junior team members.
  • Effectively manage your time, especially when assigned to multiple projects.
  • Develop client relationships and identify potential business opportunities.
  • This position may require security clearance, and employment offers will depend on obtaining the necessary level of clearance. This will be discussed during the interview process.

Compensation and Benefits:

We provide a competitive salary that is regularly benchmarked against industry standards, along with a default of 25 days of annual leave plus bank holidays, with options to buy or sell leave.

Additional Information:

This role may require security clearance, and employment offers will depend on obtaining the necessary level of clearance. If applicable, this will be discussed during the interview. The vetting process is conducted by United Kingdom Security Vetting (UKSV) and may require candidates to provide proof of residency in the UK for a minimum of 5 years.
