Senior Estimator Job Description

We are seeking a highly skilled Senior Estimator to join our team at Michael Page International Canada Limited. As a Senior Estimator, you will play a key role in the development of project estimates, ensuring accuracy and efficiency in the estimation process.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Estimate Development: Participate in project development activities, including scope definition, preconstruction planning, and control estimate development.
  • Preconstruction Services: Provide preconstruction services, including the preparation of preliminary budgets, cost plans, and value engineering opportunities.
  • General Expenses and Margins: Determine general expenses and provide input into margins/fees.
  • Quantity Takeoff Estimates: Coordinate the preparation and performance of full detailed quantity takeoff estimates, identifying inherent risk and opportunities.
  • Subcontractor and Supplier Management: Solicit information from subcontractors and suppliers, and analyze subcontractor requirements.
  • Contract Negotiation and Award: Assist in negotiating and awarding of contracts.
  • Project Planning and Scheduling: Assist in project planning and scheduling.

Requirements:

  • Estimating Experience: 8-10+ years of estimating experience.
  • Business Development and Estimating: Preferably someone with a strong contact network in the area of trades & clients, with involvement in both Business Development as well as Estimating.
  • ICI Construction Experience: Experience in the ICI construction environment, on the General Contracting side of the ICI industry.
  • Estimating Software: Experience using estimating software, such as Timberline Estimating, Prime Bid, or On-Centre Takeoff.
  • Post-Secondary Education: Post-secondary education in quantity surveying/estimating, architectural technology, or engineering technology.
