About the Role

At Roche, we are seeking a highly skilled Data Governance Lead to join our team. As a key member of our organization, you will play a critical role in driving the development and implementation of our data governance strategy.

Key Responsibilities

  • Develop and maintain data governance frameworks and policies across our systems
  • Own and act as the subject matter expert on data governance policies, while enabling business priorities
  • Develop and maintain an inventory of enterprise information maps, including systems, owners, and associated processes
  • Establish and govern an enterprise data governance implementation roadmap aligning strategic priorities of our organization
  • Build an enterprise-wide data governance framework, with a focus on improving data quality and protecting sensitive data through modifications to organizational policies and standards, principles, governance metrics, processes, related tools, and data architecture
  • Partner with various stakeholders and functions to implement data governance solutions across our affiliate network
  • Facilitate the adoption of data quality standards, data protection standards, and adoption requirements across the enterprise via partnering and influencing without authority
  • Oversee relevant work and deliverables, coordinating with assigned internal resources and external consultants (onshore/offshore)
  • Ensure adherence to various regulations, such as CCPA, GDPR, and other data privacy regulations applicable to our organization and industry, partnering with data privacy experts within and outside our organization
  • Manage and maintain stakeholder relationships in a cross-functional environment relevant to the data governance function
  • Create and own the budget, ensuring that assigned projects are executed within the planned budget
  • Own and manage data cataloging efforts across the GTM stream

Requirements

  • A Bachelor's degree or equivalent
  • Minimum of 8-10 years of experience in structuring and managing data governance functions
  • Minimum of 6+ years of experience in the commercial/medical pharma-biotechnology industry
  • Strong knowledge of industry-leading data governance, data quality, and data protection management practices
  • Strong knowledge of data governance practices, business, and technology issues related to the management of enterprise information assets and approaches related to data protection
  • Knowledge of data-related government regulatory requirements and emerging trends and issues
  • Very proficient in all functions related to data governance applicable to the life sciences industry, centered around commercial and medical functions
  • Hands-on data stewardship experience in the commercial/medical life sciences domain
  • Good exposure to industry-standard data governance frameworks
  • Prior work experience on technology platforms like Collabra will be a plus
  • Proficiency in data privacy regulations like CCPA, GDPR, HIPAA, etc.
  • Experience in leading cross-functional teams on various projects and processes
  • Experience working in a matrix organization, leading resources within the organization as well as external consultants - onshore/offshore
  • Excellent interpersonal communication skills (verbal and written), be proactive, self-initiator, and collaborating attitude
