Job Title: Senior Mechanical Engineer - Project Lead

Job Summary:

We are seeking an experienced Senior Mechanical Engineer to lead our project team in delivering high-quality mechanical engineering solutions for the HS2 Old Oak Common project. As a key member of our team, you will be responsible for leading the design, installation, and commissioning of mechanical systems, ensuring compliance with project requirements and industry standards.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Lead a small engineering team to deliver the design, installation, and commissioning of mechanical systems
  • Undertake mechanical design reviews to ensure compliance with project requirements and industry standards
  • Manage third-party design consultants to deliver design deliverables
  • Liaise with main contractor designers to resolve design comments and ensure efficient project delivery
  • Provide engineered solutions to key project problems, ensuring client expectations, project restrictions, and budget considerations are met
  • Direct liaison with CAD/BIM team to ensure correct drawing modeling to BIM or other standards
  • Attend and participate in interdisciplinary design reviews and checks
  • Support and carry out commissioning of mechanical systems
  • Carry out site surveys and visits to identify scope, improvements to systems, dilapidation, and design requirements
  • Direct liaison with installation teams to ensure design suitability, works methodology, and solve key installation issues
  • Work with the commercial department to track technical or design changes and variances
  • Work with the planning department to plan design, installation, and testing and commissioning works
  • Ensure design and works comply with quality management systems

Requirements:

  • Degree in Mechanical or Building Services Engineering
  • Engineering Council Registration as Incorporated Engineer
  • Registered member of IMechE, IET, CIBSE, or other recognized Engineering Council Institutions
  • SMSTS, SSSTS, or IOSH Managing Safety
  • CSCS Card - AQP or PQP minimum
  • Masters Degree in Mechanical Engineering
  • Engineering Council Registration as Chartered Engineer
  • Project management qualification, APM, PRINCE 2, or equivalent
  • Formal HSE training, NEBOSH Construction Certificate
  • DSEAR & ATEX formal training
  • Knowledge of relevant mechanical and public health installations legislation and standards, BIM, and design modeling standards
  • Advanced MS Office skills, including Excel
  • Utilization of MS Project or P6
