Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Library Circulation Desk Supervisor to join our team at Utah State University. This is a key role that requires strong leadership and communication skills, as well as the ability to work effectively in a fast-paced environment.

Key Responsibilities
  • Supervise and train hourly student employees, ensuring they have the skills and knowledge to provide excellent customer service and support to library patrons.
  • Coordinate and manage the circulation desk, including scheduling, training, and assessment of staff performance.
  • Manage workload priorities and ensure timely completion of tasks within established guidelines.
  • Record and compile statistics for library patronage and reference questions.
  • Manage projects involving the shelving, relocation, and maintenance of printed library materials.
  • Develop and maintain documentation and schedules for training of student staff.
  • Assist with maintaining and updating library websites, including working with IT for door lock schedules.
  • Manage scheduling of LLC spaces and post signage for LLC events, closures, and room reservations.
  • Contribute to the creation and implementation of library policies and procedures.
  • Assist with maintaining and updating student worker budget and help set student wages.
Requirements
  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience in a library setting.
  • Strong knowledge of library-related computer programs and equipment, including SCA microfilm equipment.
  • Excellent communication and problem-solving skills, with the ability to work effectively in a team environment.
  • Ability to meet deadlines and prioritize tasks effectively.
