Job Title: Complex Needs Teaching Assistant

We are seeking a dedicated and compassionate Teaching Assistant to join our team at a Primary School in Hull. As a Complex Needs Teaching Assistant, you will play a vital role in supporting pupils with complex needs and disabilities, providing them with the individualized support they need to succeed in the classroom.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Provide one-to-one support to pupils with complex needs, promoting their independence and building their confidence.
  • Work closely with the class teacher and other support staff to ensure the pupil is given every opportunity to reach their full potential.
  • Assist with managing medical needs, including keto training, epilepsy training, intensive interaction, and sensory support.
  • Use a specifically designed framework, such as the Autism Education Trust Early Year Progression Framework, to support the pupil's learning journey.
  • Develop and implement social skills interventions, focusing on early friendship skills, such as turn-taking and cooperation.
Requirements:
  • Experience working with children with special educational needs, specifically those with complex needs.
  • A background within the care sector.
  • A compassionate and patient approach, with a commitment to making a positive difference in the life of the pupil.
  • Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal.
  • A strong understanding of current SEND legislation and best practices.
  • The ability to work effectively as part of a team.
