About the Role

We are seeking an experienced and passionate Special Educational Needs Coordinator to join our education team at HMP Five Wells. As a key member of our team, you will play a vital role in ensuring that the special educational needs of our learners are identified and assessed.

Key Responsibilities
  • Reporting to the Education Manager, you will be responsible for ensuring that the special educational needs of our learners are identified and assessed.
  • Using data to inform the delivery of and access appropriate programmes and provide support/training for a range of staff.
  • Day-to-day planning and management of Learning Support Practitioners and teaching as required, with a flexible approach to delivering across curriculum areas as needed.
Requirements
  • A teaching qualification or subject specialist qualification at Level 4 (Level 5 - new standards) with a commitment to obtain the relevant outstanding Level 4 (Level 5 - new standards) qualification within a specified time scale.
  • Hold an SEN qualification at Level 4 or above.
  • Hold at least a Level 2 (equivalent to GCSE A-C) qualification in Literacy and Numeracy.
  • Gain/hold and maintain a clean, enhanced Disclosure and Barring Service (DBS) check.
  • Have a history of working effectively with people presenting challenging behaviour.
