Overview:
We are pleased to present an exciting opportunity for a Community Housing Enforcement Officer in Manchester. This is a full-time, temporary role with an initial contract duration of 3 months. The Community Housing Enforcement Officer will play a vital role in upholding housing regulations and delivering exceptional, customer-oriented service.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Conduct thorough housing assessments to ensure adherence to applicable housing regulations.
  • Offer expert guidance and legislative advice regarding housing standards to colleagues and stakeholders.
  • Engage with tenants, property owners, and other relevant entities to ensure clarity and implementation of enforcement measures.
  • Maintain precise documentation of inspections, inquiries, and compliance discussions.
  • Collaborate with essential stakeholders to foster effective community partnerships.
  • Assist in reviewing and interpreting statutory regulations and national guidelines.
  • Contribute to community safety initiatives and enhance neighborhood conditions in alignment with local objectives.
Candidate Profile:
The ideal candidate will possess experience in a comparable role, preferably within housing enforcement, compliance, or regulatory sectors. A robust understanding of housing legislation and the ability to cultivate relationships with both tenants and property owners is crucial.

  • Prior experience in local government or public sector housing services.
  • In-depth knowledge of the Housing Health and Safety Rating System (HHSRS) or a willingness to acquire this qualification.
  • Familiarity with challenges faced by private sector housing tenants and owners.
  • Strong problem-solving abilities and the capacity to make independent decisions.
  • Ability to perform under pressure while managing multiple caseloads efficiently.
  • Experience with IT systems and software applications pertinent to housing services.
  • Knowledge of building construction and safety standards is advantageous.
