About the Role

We are seeking enthusiastic and compassionate individuals to join our team as Healthcare Support Workers on the Children's Inpatient Wards at University Hospitals Bristol and Weston NHS Foundation Trust.

Key Responsibilities

  • Provide direct patient care while maintaining patient privacy and dignity
  • Work alongside registered nurses to provide essential nursing care for paediatric patients
  • Assist patients with daily living tasks, including hygiene and continence care, and meal support
  • Help with mobility needs and provide pressure area care
  • Provide emotional support to patients and their families
  • Conduct one-to-one observations for patients at high risk due to clinical condition
  • Maintain a clean and safe ward environment, preventing infection and falls
  • Take and record patients' vital signs, identifying and escalating changes to a patient's condition to the registered nurse
  • Train and support new and junior team members, including student nurses

Working Hours and Requirements

We require our Healthcare Support Workers to work 37.5 hours per week (full-time) or 24 hours per week (part-time), including long shifts (12 hours) that include days, nights, weekends, and Bank Holidays.

This is a physically demanding role that requires you to be on your feet for long periods and adapt quickly to the constantly changing clinical demands on an acute inpatient ward.
