Job Title: Wolverhampton ASD School Teaching Assistant

Our client, a dedicated special school in Wolverhampton, is seeking a passionate and committed Teaching Assistant to join their dynamic team. The ideal candidate will have experience working with children and young people with special educational needs, particularly those with autism and complex learning difficulties.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Collaborate with teachers to plan and deliver lessons, adapting materials to meet the individual needs of students.
  • Provide one-on-one and small-group support, focusing on students' learning, social, and emotional development.
  • Support students with a range of special educational needs, including autism and associated learning difficulties.
  • Contribute to creating a safe, positive, and inclusive classroom environment.
  • Work collaboratively with teachers, therapists, and other professionals to implement individual education plans (IEPs).
  • Encourage students' independence, self-esteem, and social skills.
  • Assist with personal care and physical needs, where required.
  • Promote positive behaviour and help students develop coping strategies.
  • Monitor and record students' progress, providing feedback to teachers and parents as needed.
Requirements:
  • Experience working with children or young people with special educational needs (preferred but not essential).
  • A compassionate, patient, and flexible approach to working with children.
  • Strong communication and teamwork skills.
  • A willingness to learn and adapt to the individual needs of students.
  • A relevant qualification in childcare, education, or SEN support (desirable but not essential).
  • DBS clearance (required for the role).
