Position Overview

The Northern Care Alliance NHS Foundation Trust is seeking a Food Services Operations Manager.

Work Schedule: Full-time, Monday to Friday.

Reporting Structure: This role will report to the Deputy and Head of Food Services.

Team Management: You will oversee a combined team responsible for patient and retail services, supported by Deputy Managers and supervisors.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Ensure the provision of patient meals and manage operations across multiple units.
  • Oversee retail operations, including a dining facility for staff and visitors.
  • Manage financial performance, including profit and loss responsibilities, ensuring adherence to operational standards.
  • Implement and maintain HACCP systems and ensure compliance with all relevant legislation.
  • Coordinate annual inspections and ensure readiness for external evaluations.

Main Duties:

  • Support and lead the team in daily operations, focusing on manpower management and compliance with food safety and health regulations.
  • Represent the catering department in meetings, gathering and disseminating relevant information to staff.
  • Exercise budgetary control, ensuring financial targets are met and analyzing performance data for efficiency.
  • Manage food production logistics, including staffing, procurement, and communication between kitchen and service teams.
  • Ensure compliance with mandatory training and appraisals, actively participating in staff development initiatives.

  • Business Management Level 4.

Required Knowledge:

  • Financial management and budget oversight.
  • Understanding of HACCP systems.
  • Resource organization and control.
  • Experience in large-scale food service operations.
