The Senior Pharmacy Operations Manager will oversee the daily functions of the pharmacy's procurement, storage, and distribution operations. This role is essential in ensuring the efficient management of pharmaceutical supplies and the supervision of pharmacy staff.
Key Responsibilities
- Manage the daily operations of the pharmacy's purchasing and distribution department, ensuring optimal workload organization.
- Supervise and support all personnel involved in procurement, storage, and distribution activities.
- Ensure cost-effective procurement and supply of pharmaceuticals throughout the organization.
- Act as the systems manager for the pharmacy's computer system, particularly for inventory management, including maintaining essential databases and contracts.
Main Duties
- Oversee the daily service delivery and staff management within the pharmacy's storage department.
- Ensure compliance with procurement contracts and manage medication shortages and recalls in collaboration with the clinical pharmacy team.
- Guarantee the safe and effective distribution of stock medicines to various departments and external entities.
- Implement effective stock management practices, including regular audits and discrepancy resolutions.
- Establish systems to manage returns and minimize pharmaceutical waste in accordance with environmental regulations.
- Ensure timely renewal of relevant licenses and registrations for the department.
- Handle inquiries regarding the supply of medicines to various departments.
Management Duties
- Lead recruitment efforts for the pharmacy's procurement and distribution teams.
- Conduct performance reviews and set objectives for staff in line with organizational policies.
- Ensure that all staff receive appropriate training and induction into their roles.
- Develop ongoing training programs for both new and existing staff.
