Position Overview
As a Lead Commercial Strategist, you will oversee effective commercial governance and management of SEA projects, proposals, and all commercial offerings within the business sector, collaborating closely with Divisional Management, Bid, and Project Managers.

Key Responsibilities
- Serve as the primary liaison with Clients and Subcontractors for all commercial aspects related to contracts and proposals.
- Provide independent oversight to ensure that the organization secures commercial agreements that minimize risk, maximize financial outcomes (profit and cash flow), optimize broader commercial opportunities, and comply with relevant standards and regulations.

Key Duties
- Negotiate and finalize Client Contracts and other relevant commercial documents.
- Draft, negotiate, and finalize sub-contracts and major or complex procurement agreements.
- Manage the commercial aspects of subcontractors.
- Coordinate Contract Reviews for new initiatives.
- Consult with external advisory bodies on specific matters of commercial best practices.
- Prepare budget estimates and other inputs for pre-commitment inquiries.
- Negotiate and finalize Collaboration Agreements (Non-Disclosure Agreements, Teaming Agreements, Royalty/IP License Agreements).
- Monitor and report on monthly Order Intake and other commercial metrics for the division.
- Contribute to divisional budget and forecasting processes.
- Participate in divisional management meetings.
- Provide independent commercial advice to divisional management, project, and bid managers.
- Assess divisional commercial risks and develop strategies to mitigate risks and enhance yield.
- Maintain appropriate document registers, including Export Register, Intellectual Property Register, and Contracts register.
- Provide commercial induction and refresher training.
- Liaise with UK Export Authority on Export Compliance audits and follow-up actions.
- Line management responsibilities.

Required Skills
- Experience in Government procurement.
- Strong negotiation skills.
- Background in the MOD, Defence, or Aerospace industry.
- Qualification in contract law or a general law degree.
- Expertise in contracting methods and terms & conditions.
- Knowledge of customer through-life support.
- Familiarity with pricing, terms and conditions, and other contractual documentation.
- Experience in delivering commercial sales transactions, negotiation, and bid preparation.
- Strong written, communication, and analytical skills.
- Excellent interpersonal skills and ability to build robust business relationships with a diverse range of company and customer personnel.
- Proven ability to work accurately and efficiently under pressure.
- Previous line management experience.
