About the Role

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Assistant Manager to join our Wastewater function in Kent. As a key member of our Asset Maintenance and Standards team, you will be responsible for supporting the completion of updating internal systems and tracking of works, training records, hazards, and store audits.

Key Responsibilities
  • Manage the team in the absence of the Field Performance Managers, ensuring performance continuity and role succession.
  • Work closely with internal teams to plan complex works safely and resolve long-standing and reactive issues.
  • Proactively monitor and escalate performance shortfalls, implementing strategic improvement initiatives through advice and coaching.
  • Assess and evaluate risks to Health, Safety, Security, Wellbeing, and Environmental Management conditions within an operational area.
  • Responsible for the completion of statutory Health, Safety, and Environmental audits, including SSI and EMS.
  • Manage and own the completion of all identified hazards within an operational area, and administer the Hazard Database.
Requirements

We are looking for a curious individual with a passion to develop into a team management role. You will have a good understanding of electrical and mechanical trades within a regulated environment, such as Regulatory and Legal Environmental policy, waste management licensing, and the Health & Safety at Work act.

A strong operational background with a clear track record of delivering to health, safety, and environmental targets is highly desirable. You will be expected to build relationships across Southern Water to ensure that business units work in partnership to deliver the company's strategic goals.
