Role Summary
The consultant will play a vital role in guiding clients towards creating business value through effective management of carbon, energy, biodiversity, and sustainability practices. This position involves assessing clients' impacts and dependencies on natural resources and developing actionable management strategies to enhance their sustainability efforts.
Primary Responsibilities:
- Lead the execution of Biodiversity Footprinting and risk assessment initiatives for key clients.
- Drive the development and implementation of Science-Based Targets (SBT) for Forest Land & Agriculture (FLAG) projects.
- Integrate the connections between Science-Based Targets Network (SBTN) and SBT FLAG into our service offerings.
- Collaborate with the project development team to achieve no net loss/net gain and nature-positive outcomes.
- Establish broader connections between biodiversity evaluations and mitigation strategies, including carbon offsetting and biodiversity credits.
- Enhance relationships between biodiversity and our comprehensive services, such as sustainability reporting and emissions assessments.
- Manage a variety of projects across the EcoAct portfolio, including SBT initiatives and corporate carbon footprint assessments.
- Support the implementation of Measurement and Reporting Systems (MRS) and climate finance strategies.
Collaboration and Reporting
The consultant will report to a senior member of the Advisory Team and will work closely with all team members to meet organizational goals. Building external relationships is essential, requiring effective communication with project teams, clients, and partner organizations.
Qualifications and Experience
The ideal candidate will possess several years of post-graduate experience in sustainability services, ideally demonstrated through client consulting engagements in the private sector.
Technical Skills:
- A relevant undergraduate degree in ecological, biological, or social sciences is required; a post-graduate degree is preferred.
- Knowledge of global biodiversity challenges and standards.
- Technical expertise in ecology and ecosystem services is essential.
- Experience in achieving no net loss/net gain outcomes is advantageous.
- Familiarity with biodiversity reporting standards is a plus.
- Understanding of climate change, energy, and greenhouse gas emissions is crucial.
- Proficiency in data analysis and advanced Excel skills are required.
Professional Skills:
- Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities.
- Experience in a consultative role, effectively addressing client needs.
- Excellent organizational skills for managing multiple projects.
- Strong communication skills for presentations and client interactions.
- Effective writing skills for producing clear and compelling reports.
