Quantity Surveyor Role

Fawkes & Reece is seeking a skilled Quantity Surveyor to join their team in West Yorkshire. As a key member of the Commercial, Estimating and Buying team, you will be responsible for delivering cost control and financial reporting duties across various construction projects.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Attend design meetings to identify potential cost implications and provide expert advice.
  • Collaborate with the development team to ensure accurate budgeting and cost control.
  • Conduct thorough reviews of contract drawings to prevent errors and omissions.
  • Prepare and distribute tender information packages, including subcontractor checks and preliminary cost analysis.
  • Develop and maintain construction cost analysis, including quotation analysis and budget settlement.
  • Coordinate and adjudicate budget settlement meetings with the Commercial team.
  • Prepare stage payment schedules to facilitate project financing.
  • Place subcontractor orders, negotiate contract sums, and finalize costs for variations.
  • Issue variation orders and provide cost advice on major variations.
  • Verify and reconcile all costs posted to each contract, including subcontract works, variation orders, and site instructions.
  • Liaise with the Customer Service department on post-completion defects and provide cost advice as needed.
Requirements:
  • Proven experience in managing budgets on multiple volume housing developments from inception to completion.
  • Strong understanding of Surveying and Estimating principles, with expertise in preparing realistic construction budgets.
  • Ability to manipulate complex financial models and understand strategic objectives.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office packages, particularly Microsoft Excel.
  • Working knowledge of procure to pay/cost reporting and document storage systems, such as COINS or Agresso.
  • Relevant qualification in Quantity Surveying or Commercial Management.
