About the Role

We are seeking a highly skilled Specialty Doctor to join our Older Adults service at Northamptonshire Healthcare Foundation Trust. As a Specialty Doctor, you will play a vital role in providing high-quality patient care and contributing to the development of our service.

Main Responsibilities
  • Participate in the Specialty Doctor on-call rota, providing cover for Adult, Old Age, and Learning Disability Services.
  • Work collaboratively with Consultants and other healthcare professionals to deliver high-quality patient care.
  • Develop and implement effective treatment plans, taking into account the individual needs of patients.
  • Contribute to the development of our service, including the implementation of new policies and procedures.
  • Provide education and training to junior medical staff and other healthcare professionals.
Requirements
  • MRCPsych or equivalent qualification.
  • Full GMC Registration.
  • Minimum of 4 years SHO or higher grade in psychiatry.
  • Previous experience in old age psychiatry.
  • Eligibility or approval under Section 12 of the Mental Health Act.
Desirable Qualifications and Experience
  • Additional postgraduate qualifications.
  • Experience in writing psychiatric legal reports.
  • Management training.

  • Ability to motivate and develop junior medical staff and other MDT members.
  • Ability to balance individual requirements with those of the Directorate and Trust as a whole.
